Nice trail close to the city! We came on a Saturday morning around 10:30am and the parking lot was very full ($5 parking) and the trail was busy. It's mostly gravel with forks that branch off if you want to explore a bit more. Main path follows the river with a few overlooks. Good walk with a lot of shade, I will probably try to come earlier in the future!
Love to come here after work to walk, meditate by the river or even rent a bike to go for a ride. The Trail is easy with low moderate incline depending on the route you take. Just note there are times of the day when it’s extremely crowded and riding a bike can be a bit difficult but when it’s not so crowded it’s the absolute best.
The trail here is beautiful especially during the fall, especially with it right next to the river. It wasn’t too crowded even around 5 pm which is the time I was assuming a lot of people would be there. I love to come here for either a way or a short jog.
Such a nice walking trail
Nice trail. I like that it’s very wide, bikers don’t pass too close by. Lots of dogs around and very family-friendly! I arrived around 10:30am and the parking lot was quite busy, but lots of people were coming and going so it wasn’t hard to find a spot. They have a large parking lot, but you have to pay $5 for parking (not sure if this is enforced). The trail branches off in several spots, but the main part of the trail continues along the river. Lots of shade along the trail as well!
Nice flat trail, very little elevation change. Several trailheads and routes to consider. Various lengths so you can pick your level of exertion. Gravel main trail with bikes, children, and runners. Several off road trails where bikes are forbidden.
Parking can be tough, but for the most part people are coming and going regularly so you don't have to wait long.
Off the beaten path….
Looking for a fun place in the city to grab a quick hike, look no further. With two parking lot to chose from, Your hiking/ walking options are many. I can easily loose track of time with walking these trails and enjoying nature.
Such a great flat trail along the river! Wide enough for dogs, walkers, runners and bikes. It's a 3 ml loop but, usually I just walk to the end where it meets Columns Dr and turn back around to follow the river again. There are hiking trails that vear off if you want a more rugged experience.
My dogs love it here. There are dog clean up stations along the one side along the river and bathrooms at each end. They have restored a few of the wooden platforms overlooking the river so you can stop, sit and enjoy the view.
So far we haven't had any issues with aggressive dogs. Fortunately, the path is wide enough to avoid any potential negative dog encounters.
There are a few spots at the river where I can walk my dog to the shore to explore the sandy area.
It's $5 to park, but I buy the annual pass for $40. There's a machine there to pay and tags to hang in the car if you buy the annual pass.
